Thomas Martin Smith... "The Scooter Crusader"

Tom Smith - World Traveler...

Woa! What a guy!

Well I recently came across this neat man's blog and did a little diggin' to end up finding out that I really like him and his stuff. So, of course, I had to share that with y'all here tonight. Yup, Around the world on a 250 scooter! Who woulda thunk it? :-)
Thomas Martin Smith...The Scooter Crusader

Oh ya, I love his signed copy of Johnathan Livingston Seagull Richard Bach's Book... and I too have a dog eared, well read copy of this very inspiring Classic read, sans the kool Bach sig. :-) I've said for years that this book should be required reading in elementary school. Have You read it yet?

Have a good one,

Keep It Simple Survival

Tellin' it like it IS!

O.K. folks, So this mornin' I discovered another man who by way of his blog @ Keep It Simple Survival... reveals to me, that he thinks in similar ways to this good ol' Canucky boy on MANY, if not Most subjects and how he handles them. So, it would appear that his American thinking easily blends with my Canadian brain-work, through this real man's blog about real Realities and how we all should be dealin' with 'em! ;-)

If you've been following Any of my blogs, lenses, hubs or websites and Tweets, then go ahead and Follow this man through, to our own future... :-)

Eating Healthy with the BEST Nutritional foods...

What to eat?

If you haven't yet been introduced to some of my particular take on eating before, then perhaps you could take a few minutes now to check that out on this little Lens over @ Squidoo Eating Healthy Now... dot com. You see, as I age, I'm finding that it is even MORE important to know what foods I'm eating. I need to know what each one does for me. I only wish I knew this stuff when I was young. :-(

Sticking as much as you can with foods that build new healthy cells, You will live a healthier life. Eating dead foods, does NOT produce new cells. Well, except for cancerous ones etc. :-(

Live Food...

While I've got you here, there is something else I just HAVE to say... PLEASE make sure that you eat your share of fresh sprouts, preferably ones that you grow yourself, at home! :-) These are LIVE foods @ their very Best! Don't let another week pass you by without feeding these marvelous little super foods to that body of yours. :-)

Hang loose,

A little Tweet!

A little Birdie told me...

Well, well, well, I finally hooked up with Twitter! Tweet! Tweet! :-) Man, I should have been onto this before now. I'd heard about it way back, but was too busy with other stuff at the time, to check into it. :-( I'm making up for that lost time now though. :-) I'm happy that You found this bloggy blurb about Tweetin' here to-day with me! :-)

If YOU haven't heard of Twitter yet, or You're not hooked up to Twitter yet, then what in the world are YOU waiting for??? :-) Twitter is Terrific!

Here's a cool part...

I've found that Tweeting is Great, for those times when I don't feel like writing even a few paragraphs but I do have something to say that I want to share with others. You know, like just a sentence or two? A happy statement, perhaps? A quick Birthday Wish to a friend maybe? See what I mean?

Twitter limits your blurb, or Tweet, as they are called over there, to 140 characters, so that you are sort of kinda forced, in a friendly like way, to learn How To compose your thoughts better because of it. No matter WHO you are! It's a Very slick idea in my books and I'm really, really glad I've joined the Great Twitter! :-)

So take a gander over here
You're So Tweet! and use the hyper-link that's there, to visit my little Twitter page Or you could even just go there from here, right now--->Get Tweeted to-day...

Start them young...

Here's a Happy Face for y'all...

Outdoorsy Baby Boy!

This is the face of one Very content, healthy and Happy little boy, raised in various Outdoorsy slanted type of environs. His smiling little face told here on the couch, of how he dug sharing his little life with his sister and I all the time. His way of showing his Love back, for us. Yup, our little Lee here, was who some would call, a Natural! Born into a family who knew and loved the Natural things in life. He ate all of the wild foods that we ate and was never left out of anything, because he was too young. This awesome little boy was a total charm to be with at all times. He had an amazing disposition. It's hard to explain sort of, but a powerful feeling of closeness and bottomless Love consumed me, anytime he was near, or even when I thought of him. It is my belief he felt that super deep love oozing from me and reciprocated naturally, in his own ways, as any child would...

This was a love that went deeper even, than the Love I had for his mother, if you can believe that. This thing called Love, is capable of being found early in life as well, if it is indeed presented in the first place. Lots of children, grow up, never knowing the true meanings of and or experiencing, their own real love. A natural and unconditional love. I suppose that's why So many people own Dogs. They are seeking LOVE. And that my dear reader, is a real pity...

So, I say unto you this day. If You have children, Please get them started towards the Outdoorsy world asap and shower them with all the different Loves that you know about. Do Not limit their potential Greatness, with stuff like, they are too young or you're too busy or whatever. Do your job, and be all you can be for those precious children of yours. They will be all grown up and gone far too soon and you Do Not want to have a bunch of regrets to remember,eh? :-)

P.S. Tell them that you Love them, a few more times to-day. It'll get their attention, I'm bettin' on it. :-)

Do You miss Your Grandpa?

Wild Blueberries...

Powerful memories...

After watching Kathryn, from "What A Catch", on T.V. just a few minutes ago, I was suddenly Very inspired, to pose this question to You. Do You miss Your Grandpa? You see, while telling us all a little bit about her Grandpa, like picking Blueberries together and stuff, she became very emotional on camera and started crying a little and told us that it made her realize just how much she missed him, now that he had gone off to the beautiful trout stream in the sky. Well, that sure struck a cord with me folks! Yup, you know it, a tear started rolling down my cheek too, as memories flashed through My minds eye of years past, spent with Loved ones, who are no longer here. :-(

...The other day I spent time with one of my best friends after not seeing him for awhile and his Granddad came into one of our conversations. You see, he was an old school fishing guide and he knew that my buddy was the Only one in the whole family who had Any interest in Fishing and the Outdoors. He had been trying to make up for lost time in his later years by asking my bud to come down and spend some time with him on the lake. Of course the timing thingy wasn't quite right, like for most of us, so he had to pass on the opportunity and stay home and provide for his own little family. Unfortunately, my buddy's Gramps died shortly thereafter and he then realized just what an opportunity he had missed. That old man had wanted to share the best things in his life with his cool young and only really deserving grandchild, but fate deals the cards and it still affects my bud to this day.

Missed opportunities are not something we want to dwell on here but, they should teach and remind us NOT to waste or pass up too many similar future opps...

Maybe You are one of the lucky ones and still have Your Gramps close by? If that's the case, this is to remind YOU to get over there and spend some time with this man, on whatever terms he prefers. And, be quick about it as grand-dads seem to be harder and harder to come by these days...

For the balance of You, the ones that do not have Your Grandfather around anymore, I want You to think about Your Granddad to-day and Your times together with him. He deserves that remembrance to say the least and the feelings that will come to You through this experience, will be Well worth Your time to-day. Those personal thoughts of Your's just may even bring a tear to Your eyes, like it did to Kathryn and I, this morning. :-) We Miss You Grandpa!

If You haven't seen, "What A Catch" yet, I highly recommend tracking it down and watchin' this Cool Woman Angler. Also her line of Outdoorsy Women's Shirts totally ROCK! Any Woman will look great in her products, guaranteed!

Have a super day now...

P.S. Maybe You have an Uncle or an old fishing buddy that you can remember to-day in lieu of a real grandad...

Fishing Women...

Yes Women Rock!

I've always known that women make great Fisher-persons. As a matter of record, I've even been married to two of them, so I've had plenty of time to see much first hand proof of that knowledge. ;-) However, this year seems to be even more totally the Year of the Fishing Ladies, from what I've seen lately! I want to take my hat off in here to-day, to two Very Fine Women out there. These great ladies ally excel at what they do. They both LOVE doing what they do and it comes across all over the place!

This then, my fair reader, is my little tribute to these wonderful Role Model Ladies who Love and Live, to Fish...

First off...

There are presently a pile of Fishing shows on T.V. but to the best of my knowledge, there is only One hosted by a Woman. Yes you read that right, a Woman has her own Fishing show on T.V. now! You'll definitely want to "tune in" to This refreshing look at Fishing through a woman's eyes!

This amazing Lady's name is Kathryn Maroun and her fine T.V. show is called, appropriately enough, "What a Catch!"

From the episodes I've watched, she is just Awesome. Such a neat character she portrays in those jungle scenes, cutting her hair and then tying up a killer Fishing fly with it, along with a piece of her foam flip-flop sandal. Spellbinding she is! If You like fishing, or Cool Women, You've gotta tune in to this fox's show. You will NOT be sorry! :-)

Here's a little hyper-link to her website too...What a Catch! Go have a boo for Yourself to-day...

And Now, for 2008, voted as Awesome Femme number 2...

If You've never heard of Kim Bain-Moore before to-day, then I'm really glad to say that you just did, right here on this wee blog and I'm predicting that You will be hearing a lot more about her in the future too. This Australian blooded good looker, won the WBT's Angler of the year title for 2008! That got her not only a brand spanking new Toyota Tundra truck but also, and even more importantly, earned her a berth in the upcoming Fishing World, Main Event, the BassMaster's Classic. That achievement folks, makes this very cool Lady, the very First Woman to EVER get into the Bass Master's Classic!

Yep, Kim will be fishing right alongside the top earning men in the Bassing biz in a few short months. The neat part of that is, that I KNOW that all those boys are going to Love her out there on the tour and will be very Proud of her too. I'll bet ya more than a few of them will end up showing her all their tricks, whenever they get a chance to fish with this sweet thing! Well, until day one of competition that is. ;-)

So I ask You, are You proud of this awesome little Fishing Lady or what? :-) I know I most certainly am. Give her a Google and see where she's been and what she's done so far. This is a real role model here folks, of a smart, tough and versatile, outdoorsy woman, in my books. Thumbs up Kim! You Rule!

She's Classic Bound...

Oh ya, I want it noted right here, right now, that I'm pullin' for her and after reading up on this talented woman, you just may be too...

It's Seasonal Switch time...

Switchin' Gears time...

Well then, that just about does it, now that I've praised these two Fine Outdoorsy Girls to y'all. To wrap it up for to-day, here's a pic to show that it's that time again. Yup, the Big change from soft water to hard water IS here. Brrrrr. I'll be going ice-fishing soon if things go well.

Merry Christmas to All!

Views of the Ottawa River

I know that You couldn't be there to scan this beautiful vista for Yourself to-day, so, I recorded a little of it for You and added some of it in here, for all to see now.

Ottawa River

Gatineau Hills

Fall Colors

This fairly high vantage point, overlooking the Ottawa River, is pretty well in the cool little town of Petawawa. Being the Fishing guy, I was twitchin' while trying to snap these pictures. Had to put the Pentax up against a tree so that I could shoot steady. :-)

Time again to enjoy the fall. Get out and see some of those colors folks, before it's too late.

Cheers,

lb
